How do I specify the image used for Facebook likes and shares using Websitebuilder?

Note: We want to provide a few common and useful snippets for your use, but our support department is not able to assist you with editing code. They can help you with code placement.

If you want to specify what image is used when someone shares/posts/likes your website on Facebook you can add this snippet of code to the head tag: Make sure you have already added your image to the homepage and published it. Your picture will look best if it is square and at least 600 pixels wide.

You just need to change the URL in the code to the address of the published image you want to use.

How to get the image URL

In our example, we will use the indicated image as our Facebook image. It is best if you know the file name of the image. In our case, logo-facebook.png

2) After you publish go to the live page and place your mouse on the page, and right click. Select view page source from the menu.

3) In the tab that shows the page source, hit ctrl-f to bring up the search box. Enter logo-facebook

4) Hover your mouse over the URL and right click again and select copy link location(terminology may vary by browser)

5) Edit the code above to insert your image URL. It should now look like,

6) In your editor click on Manage on the left side, then on advanced. In the first line(Site meta tags), paste the copied URL and click Save

7) Publish and then go to the Facebook debugger

After you've added the code there and published you will need to run your website URL through the Facebook Debugger so they will crawl the site and make the update.
