WHy is a password needed to view a published page?

I just updated my "For Sale" page and published. However, when people go to the page ( from a link in my site) it is asking for a password to view it. WHAT IS GOING ON?

Use "Page Settings" to remove the password.

@cris3586 I assume it is one of the Sitebuilder sites. Please read this topic, https://community.homestead.com/homestead/topics/why-is-my-page-password-protected-when-i-didnt-add-...

I experienced the same problem ever since I added a password protected page. I have deleted it from each page and have deduced that the password migrates to whatever page I exit from. Create a dummy page, an unlisted page, and use for exiting your website editor. This practice will eliminate that problem with your published site.

Homestead doesn't have a solution. I don't know if everyone using a password protected page is experiencing this same problem. It took me a couple days to decipher the pattern. It's not random. It's necessary to use an exit page that will eliminate the password from interrupting your visitor's experience. You want all of your pages to be accessible. Occasionally I'll time out and the page pops up with a password required. I know now to log in, delete the password and exit using my dummy page. This solution will work until Homestead finds the bug.

The only method that we can see to cause this is by having the password stored in your browser. Once that is removed, then you remove the password from the page and it should not return. If it does, then the password is still stored in the browser. We have spent quite a bit of time looking at this, and for everyone so far it has resolved the issue. We have never found anything that would indicate another cause or something we can fix.

I went under "advanced settings" and attempted to REMOVE a password that was put there, apparently on it's own. I am unable to remove it,

Hello,

The issue is that the password is saved through your browser and the builder keeps pulling that. Here are instructions to resolve this:

@elyzabethv That is what I wound up doing. Thank you. The pages are open again. But what a bizarre thing to happen!
