Problem after upgrading mailbox quota

Today I upgraded my mailbox quota, from 500MB to 2GB, since I was using up 97% of the old quota. However, now I can't receive ANY emails on my email account, and keep getting "Quota exceeded (mailbox for user is full)" errors.
