Mail Delivery Failed messages when sending to known addresses.

In the past 24 hours, I have received several Mail Delivery Failed messages when sending a new or reply message to email addresses I know are valid.  And now I'm wondering if I'm not receiving messages.  Please advise.  This is creating a big roadblock and hampering client communication.  Thanks!
