network solutions domain did not transfer

After using the "use a domain you already own" and entered and then verified that the network solutions account had the right DNS servers as instructed, it didn't work.
Furthermore since I'm using Google Business for emails they don't go through because the domain has no pointer at this point.  What can I do to expedite the domain pointer transfer?
