How can I link a graphic or text to my PayPal account without using the SimpleStore options?

I'm helping a non-profit group with their web site. They don't have the SimpleStore upgrade. I just want to direct visitors to the group's PayPal page so they can join or donate. They were given the PayPal code to use. Do they have to have the SimpleStore upgrade to utilize PayPal? They say they haven't had to in the past.
